Michelle Malkin is right on target is this column! She sees that despairing over the 2008 election is not the proper response and suggest we prepare for the long haul. I certainly agree with that assumption and course of action.
For those of you who disagree you might want to take a moment to consider these sobering facts about John McCain.
1. War Hero – so are millions of other men and women who served around the world. He dropped bombs and strafed people on the ground without knowing anyone that he killed. My father was killed after saving tank crewman during an engagement in 1945. My eldest son entered a burning car to save a 71 year old drunk. Who is more of the HERO?
John McCain is using his service career inappropriately to gain personal advantage in the world. He is definitely a war veteran, but no more a hero than millions of others who worked to save lives and protect our Country.
2. Election Reform Champion – his combined efforts with Sen. Feingold was supposed to even the playing field in political contributions as Big Business had too much (?) influence on elected officials. McCain-Feingold Act created 527 PAC’s that are no less dangerous or influential over politicians, as evidenced by the names and ideological leanings of the major contributors who set up 527’s.
Also, note from where McCain is receiving his campaign contributions and contrast that with Mitt Romney who is using $35,000,000 of his personal money to seek the Presidency.
Which of these two men do you think would owe” less” to his contributors?
3. Experienced Politician or Sore Loser – he has maintained membership in the Republican Party alleging he is a disciple of Ronald Reagan and champion of Conservatism. Yet President Reagan didn’t see enough in John McCain to bring him into the inner circle of his administrations. What does this indicate to you? President Reagan was clearly no fool and could see people he could trust and those he couldn’t.
John McCain has demonstrated over time his displeasure when the GOP doesn’t buy into his ideas or suggestions. He works against the very people who keep helping him return to office.
Do you honestly expect he will do for the total American public what he states in his campaign speeches? I for one am not duped that easily.
